Hi Cathy and Others:
Our adult female Muscovy, (Tilly) has been losing long feathers by the lot. She generally flys in and out of the duck pen to swim in the pond with her Pekin mate several times a day, but she has remained in the pen with the spring ducklings for four days now. We are worried it is a health issue. Any ideas???
Thanks a bunch,
Miss Kris

Nope, nothing wrong. It's time for Muscovy to molt so she's losing old feathers and getting new. My chocolates look really funny now as they have some really dark, vibrant brown feathers interspersed with their old, faded, bedraggled feathers. I think they're about the worst ones to fade.
