these are still being worked on for colour but what do you think of them. they were hatched in July 09. the Bronze are all barred except one. I'm interested in what you all think of them since you have chocolate not Bronze.

I am really too new to muscovies to reply, but I just had to say those are very pretty muscovy babies! So pretty and dainty! They are really amazing!  Cool

They really are rather beautiful. Subtly different in appearance from our US Muscovies. We started with a flock of white birds and want to introduce more color, so we are keeping our only 2 colored hens to breed from next year. (With a white drake.) We shall see what happens.

Those you're referring to as lavender aren't at all similar to what we call lavender, or 'self-blue'.  They have a rust color to them it appears in the photos that you wouldn't find in a self-blue.

This isn't a fantastic photo but this is a self-blue duck.

Self-Blue and Lavender are interchangeable here and are the same variety.  I've always been told that Self-Blue is the correct name and Lavender is simply the equivalent from the chicken world.  Yes, all Self-Blues are close to that shade.  She's a bit dark on the wings but I believe she'd just gotten out of the pool so her feathers were wet.

Hi David,

Yes, All the birds on the MDC site are (were) mine.  I've had to get rid of a lot of birds in the past two years because of increasing work commitments so I no longer have any but chocolates and blacks.
